The Building Opportunities Program is designed to help youth who are between the ages of 16-24 and are at risk of not completing their high school education. Youth participating in the Building Opportunities Program gain skills and knowledge in construction-related fields to assist them in obtaining a high-paying job while earning their high school diploma, GED or HSED.
Building Opportunities takes a holistic approach to providing services to participants including assessments, life skills attainment, career exploration, occupational skills training, work readiness skills and experience. In addition to construction safety and carpentry skills, youth will participate in other training such as HIV/AIDS/STI and Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Abuse (ATODA) prevention, smoking cessation, nutrition and fitness, recreation and leisure, conflict resolution, communication skills, time management, team building, and personal financial management will be made available through a variety of community partnerships.
