Child Care Certification Program |
| |
By being an in-home child care provider you will be able to work in the comfort of your own home, be your own boss, and earn money to provide for your own family. In addition, you will be providing quality child care in a safe and nurturing home environment. By becoming certified, you will earn the confidence of parents that children are receiving quality care.

What services are available to a certified provider? |
| |
If you are a certified provider you may be eligible for the following:
|
| |
|
Participating in the Federal Food Program;
|
 |
|
Being listed on Resource and Referral Child Care Provider list serve;
|
| |
Receiving updated news and trainings; and |
| |
Acquiring payments through Wisconsin Shares Child Care Program.
|
| |
|
| |
|
What is required for certification?
|
 |
|
|
|
| |
For the certification process, you must complete the following: |
| |
|
| |
Application fee payment; |
| |
|
Standards and Checklist form; |
| |
|
Application form; |
| |
|
Background verification and release of information; |
| |
|
Water test (if not on public water); |
| |
|
TB Test; and |
| |
|
15(+) Hours of Early Childhood Education (none required to become provisionally certified). |

|
| |
|
To be regularly certified, you will need the following classes: |
| |
|
|
| |
|
Introduction to the Child Care Profession;
Fundamentals of Family Child Care;
Sudden Infant Death Prevention training (for children under 1 year); and
Shaken Baby Syndrome training (for children under 5). |

|
|
| |
|
For a provisional certificate, the following training is required to care for children under 5:
|
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Sudden Infant Death Prevention training for children under 1 year; and
Shaken Baby Syndrome training for children under 5. |

|
What is the certification process?
|
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Contact the Workforce Connections, Inc.Child Care Certifier in Monroe or Juneau Counties at
608-374-7740, Ext. 77305.
|
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Workforce Connections, Inc., will send out information and forms you will need to complete to begin the process.
|
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Once the information and application is received, Workforce Connections, Inc. has 60 days from the date of application to process it.
|
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Your certification may take 1-8 weeks depending on how quickly background checks and references are returned. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Once all paperwork is completed, Workforce Connections Inc. will schedule a home visit. Workforce Connections, Inc. will check to be sure all county standards are met.
|
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Once that is verified, you may become a qualified, certified child care provider.
|
